Dear Divine Brother
You are doing great as a student right. But how to control our emotions and not react to other people's comments? This is your question. Here is our guidance for you.
What is Emotion?
E-motion is ''energy in motion''. Energy is the soul's energy when comes into action through the mind, it becomes 'e-motion'. This such energy if applied to the right place, in a right direction then actually it is a great benefitter. That means - if you use your emotions for a right purpose, they are helpful (a boost). Emotion is nothing but out ability (virtue) to connect to other person's heart. But this is not always beneficial. Sometimes, our emotion overcomes our sixth sense and past experiences, which lead us to make mistakes. Thus to say - we must always listen to our experience and our intellect (buddhi) and not fall into the flow of uncontrolled emotions - whether it is people's behavior towards us or our own judgements.
Using Emotion as Positive
For example, if you are emotional about that you cannot see others in pain and you cry with them. Ok, this is a weakness in itself. BUT if you are a doctor, then such emotions actually help you to connect emotionally with your patients. This then helps you in healing them better.
Spiritual Understanding
Anyway, since this is a general feeling, one desires to become emotionally strong. That is the way towards Spiritual awakening. When you realise that you are not this physical body or anything of matter, but a pure ''soul'' and everyone (every living being) is a 'soul' who is using their body to experience life. And that ''we all are brothers and sisters', children of one incorporeal GOD (Supreme Soul) then all such weakness will disappear.
Answer: If you get upset for someone's comment on you, then you are just taking it too much seriously. Realise that this does not affect the truth. If 2 people say that left is right, then it wont become true. This is a simple realisation. Have no bad feeling for anyone as every soul is our family and God loves them as much as god loves me.
"Spiritual Knowledge is the greatest purifier'' as said also in Bhagavad Geeta.
